Well I don’t have a lot to talk about today, but there is always something. I discovered after buying a small point-and-shoot camera, one suitable for digiscoping, that it is much more difficult than I had thought. First of all, these small cameras talk a big mega pixel game, but deliver less than exciting results. Then there is the issue of getting the damn thing to focus on the bird and not the twig in front of it. By the time I have the shot framed and focused, the bird has flown. I also found that being so consumed with photography took away precious time for birding. In the time I spent fiddling around with the camera and scope, I missed several great birds that otherwise would have been seen. So the camera went back to the store today, and I’ll look into this again sometime in the future after some more research.
On another note, one of the owners of Birdwatching.com (the site where I purchased my Swarovski binoculars and scope) has created a page featuring me! Their website isn’t simply a store, but a wonderful place to get information and advice on nearly all things related to birding, and I am happy to help them sell these great optiks. I’m also very thrilled Diane was so kind to add a couple links to my blog in the story. Maybe during one of my journeys next year I’ll stop by their place in Iowa.
I noticed that my readership increased a lot with my the last post. Hopefully everyone will continue to find my adventures interesting. Also, please feel free to comment below. I’d like to know what you folks are thinking and what you’d like to add. A real flowing conversation between readers in the comments section would be awesome.
